7 Goal Thriller In The Dome

It was a great start to the year for Michael Moyles’ Mayo ladies as they kick-started their year with a thriller win in the Centre of Excellence.

Both teams had a strong start with each scoring for their side in the first-minute team with Maria Reilly opening Mayo’s scoreline and Ciara Blundell opening the scoreline for Westmeath.

It was the battle with the goals as Maria Reilly found the back of the Westmeath net with a goal in the first minute, only for Anna Jones of Westmeath to find the back of Mayo’s net only two minutes later.

Maria Reilly, Captain Shauna Howley, Sinead Cafferkey, Laura Moran, Sinead Walsh, and Ava Keane, made sure to put manager Michael Moyles on notice as they all found the back of the ent for Mayo as they sealed off a great win to start their year off with a high.

The first half belonged to Mayo leading by fifteen points at the halftime whistle.

Prior to the game, many had believed the loss of stars such as Sarah Rowe, Niamh/Grace Kelly, and Rachel Kearns but captain Shauna Howley made sure to lead her team to victory to start the year off with the win for manager Michael Moyles.

Fresh off a great season for the Castlebar Mitchels ladies, like many I can’t wait to see the journey our girls will embark on this year.

We’ve been fortunate enough to get some fresh faces into the mix with the likes of Saoirse Lally, Rachel Baynes and now it’s time to see how far our brilliant team will go.

Well done to the ladies on a great win and now time to prepare again for our next game against Galway in Tuam Stadium next Sunday !
