Another Connaught title in Mayo’s trophy cabinet and another great day in Mayo GAA history.
As always the rivalry between Mayo and Galway never failed to entertain and thankfully the luck was on our side.

Now one of the main things I felt from the first half was nerves, Mayo’s performance during the first half was not the Mayo performance we know they are capable of and I genuinely thought Galway had it in the bag but thank god I was proven wrong.

The two Galway goals were complete misfortune for Rob Hennelly but he proved his worth with a brilliant performance.
In a previous post I said Matthew Ruane has such a bright future ahead of him in the Mayo colours and after Sunday we are finally witnessing an absolute star get the praise that’s well deserved and I couldn’t have picked anyone better to receive the man of the match award.
When Cillian O’Connor’s injury was the face of the media one of the main questions was who will step up, you can’t praise Ryan O’Donoghue enough for carrying the pressure of being compared to Cillian but hey he’s creating the first chapter of what’s going to be an incredible career.

As we await to know are next opponents I just hope we don’t loose this incredible momentum we have going.
Oisín, Matthew, Tommy, Ryan and more proving Mayo football is at an amazing point in history so far.

Out of all the things I saw Sunday the best part was seeing the pure joy on each player’s fave.
Everyone knows Mayo’s struggles throughout the years and especially during the current times we are living in, Sundays win was just that little more special this time.
Whoever our next opponents I have no doubt our lads will keep making us proud.
Any Mayo GAA season is always memorable and I can’t wait to see what’s next for our lads in the coming season.
Congrats to the the lads on an amazing game and a well deserved Connaught Title 💚❤
