Corner Back – Saoirse Lally

The Mayo ladies have been revolutionised over the past few years. A new era has begun in Mayo LGFA where we have gotten to see amazing new talent make their way into the Mayo senior panel.

In today’s post, I’ll be talking about a young woman who even though only made her senior debut last year, has been one of the rising stars of the Mayo senior ladies Corner Back Saoirse Lally.

Making her debut in the National League 2020 the Westport native has been an amazing addition to Michael Moyles’ panel, being one to watch throughout both Mayo panels.

In only a short time Lally has been nominated for an All-Star and now 2022 Mayo Ladies Vice-Captain.

Having seen Lally in action there’s no doubt that there is a long career of success for the Westport native and as the saying goes It’s only the beginning!

Lally’s playing style has been compared to the likes of Lee Keegan but the young star is cementing her own legacy in the crazy world that is Mayo football.

As well as being one of the top rising stars in the Mayo panel it’s safe to say Lally has become a role model to the aspiring footballers of the LGFA.

At such a young age in a Mayo fan’s perspective, you are proud to have the likes of Saoirse wearing the Mayo jersey.

I’ve said many times we are so lucky to have amazing talent coming through the ranks of Mayo football and Saoirse is just one of the many faces.

It may only be the beginning but like many will agree there is a bright future for Saoirse in the Mayo jersey and I’ll be looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Wishing Saoirse and the ladies all the best for the coming season.
