Defender – Colm Boyle

Throughout the Mayo squad we are so privileged to have a different variety of players both veterans and fresh talent.
It has often been said that we are possibly living in one of the greatest eras of footballers.
We have had players come through who have reinvented the meaning of having pride while representing your county and in todays post is a perfect example of a much loved member of the Mayo panel Colm Boyle.
Since first arriving on the Mayo panel against Sligo in 2008 Colm Boyle not only have an outstanding career to date but has grown into a player that Mayo fans and panel are proud to call one of our own.
The 13 year veteran has one outstanding CV in the Mayo jersey with 56 + appearances, a score line of 1- 13, 5 Connaught titles, 1x Division 1 Championship and 4x All Stars.

Whenever I am at a match you cant fully describe the incredible support that is shown for the likes of Colm whenever he comes on the pitch, its highly likely you will hear everyone scream from within ” Cmon Boyler “.

Throughout Colm’s career one thing that has been frequently said is the amazing passion that he shows on the pitch, whenever beast mode is activated we know Colm will do great things.

Throughout every year Mayo players are worshipped in the county, one thing I will constantly say is you can never truly describe the relationship between players and fans.

Ever since he first put on the Mayo and Davitts jersey Boyle has truly become one of the greats to have played the game of GAA.
For any aspiring player you look up to the best, you analyse the team and you choose the player that you want to be like.
Its a no brainer that Colm’s passion, dedication and skills have moulded him to be the legend that he is today, paving the road for the future men and women of football is this country.
When you have players like Colm who has dedicated so much time and effort to represent his county there is only one thing to say simply thank you.
It was only recently that the whole county got the biggest sigh of relief that Colm will be on the Mayo panel for 2021 and I couldn’t be happier to witness another chapter is such an extraordinary career for such a legend.
We have been so lucky to have amazing players wear the Mayo jersey who have gone on to be known as greats,
If I could describe Colm’s career in a nutshell it would simply be “often imitated, never duplicated”, a legend both on and off the pitch, truly one of the best to wear the Mayo jersey and an inspiration to the future.
