Midfielder – Matthew Ruane

Throughout both men and ladies teams Mayo GAA has been very  lucky to have a consistency of great young players come through the ranks making it to senior level.
Since James Horan’s return as Mayo manager many of these stars got to begin their journey to a create another chapter wearing the green and red jersey.
In only a short time these players have gone to be a vital key in games that needed to be  won, showing James Horan why they deserve a place at senior level.
Since his senior debut in 2019 Matthew Ruane has grown to be one Mayo’s top rising star aswell as a leading player for the Breaffy Senior Team.
When I first found out that Ruane was going to be called up to senior level, I had no doubt he was going to be an excellent addition considering the brilliant success he has had with both minor and U21 teams.
Ruanne has already had brilliant success whilst wearing the green and red, winning 1x Division One title, Connaught Title aswell as All Ireland titles with Minor and Under 21 and now 2021 All Star Nominee
Once football is back I can’t wait to see how Ruane will perform under new changes to the team.
Although he has created an impressive cv so far, I believe we will see more great things from Ruane in time to come and I hope that the recognition will be given for the great player and rolemodel to the future generation that he is.
