The league has finally been put to bed and now it’s time for the championship.

In just a few days, Mayo welcomes Galway to McHale Park for the Connaught Senior Championship Quater Final.

It will be a long-awaited return home for the Mayo panel and fans and there’s no doubt we will be in for an exciting game as we battle the tribesmen.

Both teams will be entering this game with recent losses under their belt and there will be a lot to be improved on ahead of Sunday’s battle.

We know for certain Brendan Harrison and Rob Hennelly won’t be starting and things are still up in the air with the likes of Paddy Durcan, Jordan Flynn but since these injuries, we have seen players step up to the plate when needed and I can’t see why Mayo cant get the job done on Sunday.

Mayo will be looking to retain the Connaught Championship against the tribesmen and no doubt are the favourites going into the game

Both teams have had equal time to prepare for the match but it will be a question of who wants it more and its safe to say a loss or draw will be the last thing on Mayo’s mind.

Over the past few seasons Galway have lost their edge in the race to be the best team in Connaught with that race being lead by Mayo and Roscommon.

All Mayo fans will have their eyes on Damien Comer and Paul Conroy but I see no reason why Horan’s men can’t cross the finish line first this sunday and make it a day to remeber for returning fans to McHale Park.

Best of luck to Mayo this Sunday !
