Thank You Keith Higgins

They say good players inspire themselves but great players inspire others.

After 16 remarable seasons wearing the green and red jersey Keith Higgins has called time on an unbelievable Mayo career.

The Ballyhaunis man achieved 4x All Stars, 8 Connaught Titles aswell as Division 1 title.

The relationship between Mayo players and Mayo fans is an indescribable incredible  bond to try to explain to anyone from outside Mayo.

Often imitated never duplicated is a phrase that does only be said about the best of the best and after 16 seasons of blood, sweat and tears,  Keith will go down simply as a legend.

Debuting in 2005 against Roscommon, with a championship score line of 1-13 there’s no doubt Higgins as contributed to the greatest days in the past few years whilst juggling life with sliotar and a Hurley.

Higgins may be hanging up his Mayo jersey but there wont be enough thank you’s to give Keith for his 16 years service.                   Higgins has inspired  players aswell as aspiring players and have shown how when you have the right qualities and persona in a sport like GAA you will go on to do great things.

Thank you for everything Keith and Happy retirement 💚♥️

Lovely piece, well done. He was a super player, could play anywhere. Could score in the forwards, could come back and mark the other team's best forward. Be very hard to replace, the best corner back in the country in the last 15 years. He'll be seriously missed.
